Whats a good birth control for a 14 year old girl?
Im 14 and 5'8 about 112 pounds, what would be a good birth control for me? And what are the side effects or what does it change?

Not having sex is excellent birth control for a 14 yr old girl. The only form of birth control that is 100% effective is abstinence. You have plenty of time for all that stuff when you're older. Sex only complicates relationships. It would show a lot more forethought and maturity to wait than to give into this pressure at such a young age. You should probably start looking into good GED program and daycares if you intend on having sex at 14. Good luck.

Good lord. Ignore the abstinence crap, we all know that if a teen is going to do it they are going to do it. I would suggest either Nuvaring or the patch. Both are low dose hormones that don't require you to remember a daily pill. Nuvaring takes a bit to get used to as far as inserting and removing it but it is very reliable and you don't even know it is there. I found the patch to be a good option as well since you only have to remember it once a week.

Good for you for being proactive about your birth control but please don't forget to always protect yourself against sexually transmitted disease and infection and use a condom 100% of the time. Also if you haven't already you might want to look into the HPV vaccine. As a cervical cancer survivor I can absolutely assure you that anything you can do, such as condoms and the vaccine, to minimize your chances of cervical cancer is a huge thing.

Wow, I would talk to your parents about this or have a friend or other family member take you to your doctor. Your doctor is NOT allowed to tell your parents you were there and what you were there for unless you give the doctor promission to tell. It's part of there oath.
A doctor is the only one that can figure out what birth control (or at least medicated) you can use.
Most pill or hormonal birth control contains side effects that mimic pms like breast pain, headache, nausea, bloating, breast growth, fatigue.
As for NON medical birth control like condoms and spermicide, that you can get at your local drugstore. They cost like $5 for a pack of 12 condoms and then spermacide is like....$7-10.

Nuva Ring. I have a 14 year old sister, im sure everyone is telling you to not have sex, I agree with them, but I also know that at your age, you aren't gunna care. I suggest you get a nuva ring. it doesn't prevent std's so if you are going to pretend to be grown, be smart about it-use condoms. You really shouldnt be having sex at all.

Abstinence. You are too young to have sex.
Please, if you do have sex now you will probably regret it.

If you INSIST on having sex then a condom and spermicide is probably best for a girl your age. This is the safest for YOU and the boy. But whatever you use make sure he always uses a condom.

You shouldn't need birth control for a few more years so don't worry about it yet. Unless of course you are very confused and already having sex in which case that is really sad and you should stop.

You sound mature enough because you are asking about birth control, at least, but you are way too young to have sex. Please wait at least another 5 years. You will be glad you did.

a 14 yearold should be having sex.

If you're 14 and seeking birth control... you should probably just get spayed.

i was on birth controll pills but i was not haveing sex at all.. it was cause of my periods.. so i would go on the pill..
