Is there a specific toy box you can recommend?
My lil boy just turned 1 year old yesterday and I quickly realized he's got many toys! I was thinking about a toy box for them, but heard some where not that great (like heavy lids). I know the toys will be all over the house anyways, but at least I can put his toys some place where we can all find them. Is there a toy box that you have for your child that you found is durable and works pretty well?? Thank you all!!! :)

answer:
I like the large, colorful buckets myself with the rope handles (good for moving around). They do not have lids. They are very inexpensive and easy for the children to use.

We also have a shelf unit that has plastic bins. These are good for smaller toys- we keep littlest pet shop in one bin, toy cars in one bin, mega blocks in one bin, etc. Easy for the children to organize themselves- even little ones.

You can go to Toys R Us and see toy boxes- most are safe. I like the plastic ones (made by Little Tykes, I think)- they are not heavy, there is a slot where they can get fresh air if they were to get caught in there, etc. Most toy boxes bought new have safety features to keep fingers from getting smashed, etc. I am thinking of getting a couple, just because they double as benches that they can sit on to read, etc.

I dont really use a toy box (haven't been able to find one) but I did buy some 3 gallon buckets from Walmart in different colors (pink, blue, green and orange). They work well and are easy for my 16 month old daughter to reach into. She also likes to dump all of the toys out and put the bucket over her head to hear herself go "aaaaahhhh" lol.

We use the plastic bins from Walmart but we plan to buy shelves to go on the wall or a toy box with different compartments for different toys. We plan on doing this because it seems like the toys in the bottom don't get played with as much as the ones on top even if it is a favorite. They also get frustrated with trying to dig to the bottom for toys and end up dumping them all in the floor. lol

We Have A Toy Box But Just Use A Big Plastic Tote From Wal Mart. They Are About Maybe 5 Dollars And They Work Well. They Come In DIfferent Colors And Maybe You Can Get Some Stickers Or Paints To Decorate The Bin It Shall Be A Fun Activity For You And Your Son To Do! But If You Want A Toy Box There Are Some At Toys Are Us That Are Cute But Kinda Pricey There Are Cute and Work Well. There Is Also A Brand Called Sassy That Work Great For Toys And Kids. I Remember My Child Had A TOy Box And It Was A Bench Also THe Lid You Sat On And It Was Fisher Price. Here Are Some From Wal Mart That Could Work: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Little-Tikes-S… it has it in this color and in white and green and blue and here are some from toys r us: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp…

i used to just use a huge plastic storage box and didn't bother putting the lid on. but her toy situation is out of control and would need about three of them. a friend bought her a paddling pool which i inflated and now use to store ALL her toys. she loves rummaging around in there to see what she can find.

There is a great toy box from SASSY called Sassy toy organizer. It is awesome, so colorful fits a whole mess of toys ;) My son is 4 now and still loves it! Now I have two more children probably will buy one more lol.

Mommy of three I have a ton of toys!! :)

the floor. lol. jk. i bougght a couple of things for my son. one of them is a toy bench that has storage totes without lids that slide in and out of it, and he also has another one with a roll out toybox underneath thats open and has storage compartments above. that one we did have to anchor to the wall because its a little tall, but it works for us.

My parents got this for my daughter for her first birthday:
