What if I missed one birth control pill?

What if I missed one birth control pill?
I am taking Loestrin 24 Fe. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend yesterday three hours before I was supposed to take my pill, and didn't remember to take it until 12 hours later. Am I not protected for anything before I missed the pill? And should I take an emergency contraceptive?

If you missed the pill in the first or last week of the pack then you won't be as protected as if you were to miss one in the 2nd week of the pack.

But missing one pill is fine and it is still effective if you take it up to 12 hours later, so that's okay.
If you miss more than one pill you have to use contraception for the next 7 days of taking your pill correctly to make it effective again. pregnancy question and answers

So I doubt that you are pregnant, but if you miss your next period then take a HPT asap. :'].

I hope I've helped.

Good Luck.

You're fine, but when you miss a pill you should take two doses the next time around. What the pill does is stop the egg from dropping at all, so I'm sure it's already been stopped. If you're really worried, take the emergency contraceptive, but you have a 90% chance of not getting pregnant, at least.

Being even 12 hours late taking your birth control pill could increase your chances of getting pregnant. If you don't want to be pregnant which I'm sure you don't since you're on the pill Plan B is always an option. Hope this was helpful.

One missed pill won't do anything as long as it's one missed pill and you've otherwise been taking your pills regularly.
