MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS: What is the oldest age that a man can
I am 47. I plan to get married in the next year. My bride to be is a bit younger than I. We want to have children. I am very healthy. In the military, etc. We want a year or so just to ourselves. Then we want kids.
I have heard that men can father children into their 70-80s. I do not plan to wait that long. Is there any real concerns for a man in his mid-50s fathering a child if the woman is in her late 20s?
Notice I want PROFESSIONAL opinions or people with REAL EXPERIENCE in this. No drive-by self-righteous idiots need answer.

My father is a medical doctor, and was considering having children with his last partner, so I was subjected to quite a bit of information on this... content from pregnancy question and answersRenting&RealEstate
It is perfectly possible for men in their late 40s and older to father children. However, keep in mind that the older you are, the more likely it is for you to have a low sperm count or high number of defective sperm. See a fertility specialist, they'll be able to put your sperm through some tests to check their viability.
Also consider that IVF is an option, and the screening process means (usually) that defective/mutated sperm (I've seen slides of two-headed sperm and the like, they do happen sometimes) are less likely to be "chosen" to fertilise an egg.

Theoretically, a man can father a child well into his 80's and 90's. Men continue to produce sperm throughout their lives. Women have a set amount of eggs that they are born with, and do not produce more.
You will most definitely be able to have children, even in your 50's, so long as there are no underlying issues effecting your fertility.

My dad was 48 when he had me, my mom was 40. There's not really any concern for men, just for women over 35, but since she's in her 20s, I wouldn't worry.
i am not a professional- but i know a man that is 57 and has three children- started when he was 50. Of this is a real concern for you and your bride you should simply get your sperm evaluated. See what your sperm count is like and its strenght. No matter what you look like... or your health -- you could still have low sperm count.
35. After 30, you sperm start to rapidly die off.
