I have been a nanny for a family for a year, the last three
and feel guilty so I guess I let them slide sometimes. I take good care of their kids, I keep them on a balanced schedule and watch at their house so they feel more comfortable and also the last two days their nephew I was watching without them even discussing it with me. They keep saying the will pay me. My rent is due and they said they would pay me last Friday. They didn't and I still came hoping to get some of it because I am broke with my five year old. I don't have anywhere to put him and am trying to hold off until school starts to work a regular job. What should I do? I am taking my gas and my sons and mine time and they are three weeks behind and keep lying about paying. They said Friday, and then yesterday and then today and now they are saying tommorrow. I am afraid they are going to just tell me not to come tommorrow and I lose that money and I am behind on rent now. Please tell me your opinion. Thank you.

They need to pay you or they will have to quit their jobs to care for the children.
They're stringing you along, hoping to keep you working till they can pay you a drib. If I were you I'd start looking for another job.
Don't let them bully you just because they know you're broke. That's not an excuse for them to exploit you.
If you live in Florida, obtaining services by fraud, or failing to pay wages can land an employer in jail or sued for the back pay and attorney's fees. So it would do them well to start paying you or arrange to watch their own children.

you need to tell them in the beginning of the day that they have not paid you for 3 weeks worth of work and you rely on that money to pay the rent..so you need to today. and if by the end of the day they have not given it to you... do not leave until you get your money.
