Hubby had surgery wednesday. Just colllapsed twice. not sure

Hubby had surgery wednesday. Just colllapsed twice. not sure what to make of it?
he is ok now. and is actuallly sitting their eating cereal (at 930 pm lol)
But just before i had to change his dressings on his hip and his throat, and he was fine. looked at them in the mirror and everything. Then i went for two seconds to go and check on Elissa who was sleeping but let out a bit of a cry. I come back in and he was literallly white as a piece of paper and no colour in his lips and trempbling. Says he feels sick. Then went to walk him to the couch (7 or so steps away from bathroom door) and he lost all feeling of control, and fell down. i pulled him up and he did it again. The whole time he was awake so im not sure what this means.. fainting is when the person goes unconcious right?
We think it must be a subconcious reaction to seeing his wounds for the first time? we r not sure. pregnancy question and answers
But we are concerned the fact he fell and had no strength or control those two times.

incase this helps - ((The surgery was callled ACDF and it was taking a piece of hip bone, cutting openn his throat and putting the bone piece into his spine in place of a slipped disc. it went well and he is recovering nicely.))

he seems fine and doesnt want me to even call the doctors/ hospital. he is so stubborn. i dont know what to do? force him or let him be and see how he is.
i thought you went unconcious when u fainted. what does that mean he did.

answer:
I would call the doctor/hospital just to be safe, but I will tell you... The last surgery I had, was pretty major (by my own standards, lol). The first time I went to remove the dressing and saw what they had done, I had a similar reaction to your husbands. It seriously freaked me out. I went white as a sheet, started to hyperventilate, went weak in the knees, nearly collapsed, broke out in sweat, and the world went dark for a few seconds. I would have fallen, had my SO not been there to hold me up,and turn me from the mirror.

It was such a shock to me, to see what they had done to me. I'm not a doctor, and can't say for certain one way or another if this is the same as what your husband went through, but thought I'd let you know, the shock can be overwhelming.

When someone has surgery where they are put to sleep for it there is a 6 week recovery time for total back to normality just to totally recover from the anesthesia. Having the spine worked on is extremely delicate surgery. He should be resting, period, for the next several weeks...

Fainting is usual after a big operation, generally when the patient tries to walk. It will take sm time. If ur hubby hates callin a doc, then it's ur duty to personally meet/talk to the doctor who is handling the case.

I would say he is just recovering, little things like that are gbound to happen. BUT if he does it again, then I'd definately seek medical attention... just to be on the safe side.

Hope he makes a speedy recovery :o)

He needs to get back to the doctor. Now.

All the best.

part of the spouse job description is that when the other is showing alarming side effects after surgery but being ridiculous and refusing to call the doctor, you call the doctor for them. i'd rather have my husband annoyed with me than seriously ill.

might not be a big deal but on the other hand it might. if it wasn't told to you that it was an expected after-effect of the surgery, call and ask.
