Do kids these days still have an imagination and play with n
When I was a child my grandmother made me a blanket and I remember for years I would tie the blanket around my neck and would run around with a cape around my neck. I was thinking about making my nieces ages 1-7 and my nephew (5 years old) blankets for Christmas. I was wondering if they would have the same fun as I did. I do not have kids so I do not know if because of all the technology toys kids would no longer enjoy a blanket the same way I did. Do you think they would enjoy a blanket? (Their parents do not want more toys since they get so many from everyone, and most of them do not really care for clothes, plus their grandparents get them boutique clothes and I can't afford that!) So I am at a loss at what to get them.

My daughter, when she was 6, and her friend was about three, would fight over a red cape that they wore, pretending to be superheroes. That was two years ago. Careers_Employment pregnancy.yifei8.netParenting
Having said that, one of my daughter's most prized possessions is a quilt made just for her by her grandma. And last year, all the Brownies in our unit made their very own camp blankets (the kind with the fringe you tie together), and were absolutely tickled pink. I think it would be a nice touch if you could find a way to put the child's name on their blanket (Iron on letters, or fabric paint, or embroidery, etc.), or a symbol of something they like, a princess, or a football or whatever.

My son is almost 2 and he has the most fun coloring and driving his matchbox cars around the house. He also has a stuffed kitty that he is constantly playing with. I'm not anal about keeping him away from electronics. He watches cartoons on occasion but I think it is good for kids to be "unplugged" and use their creativity and imaginations. I think they would really like having blankets. That is something special just from you. It may not be glamorous and elrctronic but they will find a way to use them and play with it!
deffinatley! I works as a reception teacher and the children in my class all respond really well to non-battery toys. i gave the children several pieces of material in all different colours and they love it! imagination and role-play are two fundemental things children in to engage in, in order to develop into emotionally, socially and inderpendant adults!
i think they will love them, and even if they dont have the intended effect im sure theyll love them and surprise you with games you diddnt think of!!

My daughter enacts involved dramas on the bathroom counter using shampoo, soap and mouthwash bottles. People always joke that their kids play more with the box than the toy, and yet they never learn and don't get their kids boxes for Christmas.
I like the idea of writing out a book of memories of your grandmother and the blanket she made you. I might also label each child's blanket something different (i.e. tent, cape, parachute, monster net, etc).

I think they would enjoy the blankets. My son used to always bring me a blanket and ask me to pin him a cape. Kids will still use their imaginations. I think the blankets are a fantastic idea. In fact, I think I may make blankets for my nieces and nephew.

I think it sounds like an amazing gift. I would love it if someone cared enough to make my daughter a blanket. I also think the kids would love to have something warm and nice to cuddle with and use for just them.

They should like the blankets. Especially if you made them and used their favorite colors.

yes of course! My little siblings don't play with battery running things, they usually play with nothing, but pretend they are holding a gun and makes noises...
Absolutely, my son plays with the boxes the toys came in. He also plays with string. He takes the electronic toys and uses them as building blocks. I think that a blanket that is made by their aunt would be a wonderful gift that they can play with now and keep later in life as a great keepsake. Some of the most wonderful gifts for children can also be books.I recommend story books. (Yard sales are great to find these) and if they live in the same household you can pool the money together, that you would have spent on separate gifts and get one nice big one. The greatness of this gift is that they will cherish the time spent with parents reading to them, reading to each other, and reading themselves. It is great for their growing minds and it is not a toy or expensive piece of clothing that will be broken, outgrown or stained in a week. My son and I spend every night before bed with me reading to him and he loves it. I believe that some of my greatest memories will be our night reading.
