is it safe to fed baby who is under weight a similac neosure

Is it safe to fed baby who is under weight a similac neosure? it is a formula for preemies, but she is 5 mos.?
she is under different formula right now and i want to switch to the neosure formula so she will gain more weight. Dont know if its ok to switch to a different formula, just worried that she is not gaining much weight.

answer:
my son is 9 months and still use neosure my dr told me to keep him on it until 1 year since he was born at 31 weeks

It is especially important, because of her prematurity, that you discuss this with her doctor. Neosure is usually given in the hospital, sometimes in the transition to home care, and rarely at this age. She is 5 months old, so not premature now.

My premature baby was born at a pound and a half, and was 4 1/2 pounds at 3 months when he came home, so figure he was about 10 pounds at 6 months. If your baby was very early and very small, it may take quite a while for her to catch up. pregnancy question and answers

I think that you should ask her doctor. Babies that are preemies need different nutrients in their formula that your 5 month old doesn't need. Also, it might not give your daughter some nutrients that she needs as a 5 month old. Switching formulas do that degree could potentially harm your child if not done correctly. Talk to her pediatrician and he will be able to help.

within the next month, her diet will change with the introduction of solid food. start giving her water in a cup -for practice only. not all babies are round & fat -just like adults come in different sizes. if you have a medical concern, call the pediatrician.

Why? Does she have to be fat?
