Why do I have my period if I am still nursing?
Ok so baby girl is 12 weeks old and Ive been breast feeding since day one and started pumping as well. I have her at my breast too so she can always stimulate my milk supply and I well I woke up today and now Im on my period. I thought I wasnt supposed to have one yet not for a while, and now I kinda miss being pregnant lol. One thing I was looking forward too with breast feeding.

answer:
For some women their period will return quickly after birth, even if they are breastfeeding. For others it will stay away until breastfeeding ends, or the frequency declines. Being on oral contraceptives can also affect when your period returns.

I went on The Pill at 6 weeks after my son's birth and had my period return about a month later. I breastfed him until 14 months. Careers_Employment pregnancy.yifei8.netParenting

With my daughter, I went on the pill at about 8 weeks after her birth, but my period did not return until her breastfeeding sessions dramaticallly decreased around 13 months. (I nursed her until 19 months)

Looks like you are one of those ladies that won't get the break. :)

Contrary to popular belief breast feeding doesn't delay the return of your period, and it's not a form of birth control either.

You're lucky you got to 12 weeks period free. I bled first 6 weeks and then got a period a few days later with both of my kids.

as the other women wrote, that just happens! I have 2 children and got my period at 10 weeks while fully breastfeeding both of them. I took it to mean I am just very healthy and fertile :) But it is a real drain on the body to lose blood while also nursing and up with a baby so be good to yourself!

Yup, it sucks, but it happens. Mine came back at 3.5 months with my first, but not until 12 months with my second.
