Foods OK for my 6 month old?
My daughter refuses to let me feed her purees, and according to Kellymom, she's ready for finger foods.
She's had gerber puffs, mum mum crackers, bits of pancake (banana pancake, obviously no syrup), bits of banana, and I let her try a crumb of a cookie (healthy kind, but can remember what it was)
What are good things for her to try? She doesn't gag on finger foods, she can pick them up, chews, swallows them, etc.
What should I avoid (besides the well-known dairy, wheat, eggs, nuts, etc)

answer:
Cook up carrots/sweet potatoes till they are soft but not mushy and cut them into fingers for your baby.
Scrambled eggs were a favourite of my kids at around 8 months. They can have eggs, they just have to be cooked. Knowledge of business and finance, please go to pregnancy
Fish. Just cut it into tiny little pieces and make sure there are no bones.
Avacado is a great one. My kids still love avacado.
Yogurt. Yum.
Pieces of toast.
And as the other answerer said, nuts are to be avoided because they are a choking hazard, but unless you have a family history of alergies to the other items, don't avoid them. Introducing lots of different foods young helps a child to be used to trying new things.
Pretty much whatever you have on your plate, if it's soft enough, can be given to your baby. Have fun!

She can have anything she can gum up and swallow.
Which includes eggs, wheat and dairy. (Current research has found that delaying allergins doesn't not reduce the risk of allergy. She can't have nuts because they're a choking hazard, but other allergins, unless there is a strong family or personal history of allergy, are fine.)
Other ideas:
Fruit
Veggies
Pasta
Rice
Potato (white or sweet)
Avocado
Small bits of meat
Toast/crackers/healthy dry cereals
