am i being unnecessarily paranoid?
hi, im 33 weeks pregnant and feeling great altogether. at my 32nd week ultrasound i noticed the sonographer mentioning a slightly less abdominal circumference of the baby in the scan report. rest was all fine. the baby is corresponding to dates too. my doctor thinks the abdominal circumference is low due to the baby being a little small. he weighed 1.5 kgs at 32 weeks and so she thinks i should look after my diet. she was satisfied over all and never told me to get another scan done to keep a check on baby's growth. im on bed rest too due to short cervical length. generally i feel fine but for some reason i cant get my mind off the low abdominal circumference. i have an appointment again at 34 weeks and im thinking of getting another ultrasound done too that day just to see if the baby is growing; though my doctor didn't ask me to get one done but still im thinking to get it done without letting her know. do u think im only being paranoid or its a good idea to get another scan done to check on my baby's growth? i trust my doctor but still im concerned dont know why. please help i really cant decide!!
answer:
If you want to get another scan for your peace of mind, then tell your doctor. Keeping an open line of communication is very important. There are two people you should never lie to, your doctor and your lawyer! My concern is that another scan may cause even more concerns, and if you do it behind the doctor's back, who are you going to discuss this with? Another thing is if you worry too much you will elevate your blood pressure that is dangerous to you and the child. Every child grows and develops at their own pace. Call the doc, ask for a phone consultation, and suggest a scan might ease your nerves. You don't have long to go. You should be off bed rest in 3 weeks. They usually let you go into labor at 36 weeks with no worries. You're almost there, Kiddo! Congratulations on your soon to be born healthy, beautiful baby!

Mom of 2 had bed rest with both and an abnormal msafp with first but she was born healthy
If any abnormalities have been ruled out then just relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. Using measurements of the abdominal circumference isn't 100% accurate see this article http://informahealthcare.com/doi/abs/10.3109/01443618409075710. Eating more may help a little but overall a well balanced diet is much better. Good luck with rest of your pregnancy I hope all goes well.

honestly you are just already having the motherly instincts go off like they do sometimes but i recommend you honestly eating more and not worrying at all about gaining too much because i promise you that the baby will get fat if you do! i ate alot and worried little and he was so big!!! 9 lbs 13 oz~!~! so trust me, eat alot of fries from McDonald's he he
Your doctor thinks you should look after your diet. Do that.
I see this all the time with chronic conditions - people want to be tested and told they are fine rather than do what I tell them will help their situation.
Measuring your baby won't make your baby bigger. Eating will.

I agree with the other guests, listen to your doctor. Eat! Don't worry about gaining weight, worry about your baby. You can always lose the weight later.
Try not to worry. My abdominal circumference was off by two inches the entire time, and my daughter weighed eight pounds.
All the best.
All the best.
your stressing out will not help the baby aways a second or third dr opinion is better than one!
