Has ADHD Meds Helped Your Child?
My 7 year old son was just diagnosed with ADHD. I have it and his father has it too, so when thought we might have to deal with it with my son.
Anyways, he has a diagnosis from a trained psychologist and we were just wondering if anyone else child takes it and it has helped them in school.
I still take my adderal daily But, of course I don't really want to give my child drugs. I will if it will help him in school. What is your experience? Good or bad?

My daughter is almost 9 and she's been on Vyvanse for a couple of years now and it has helped her immensely. I was very against medicating my child so when her kindergarten teacher brought up the subject I brushed her off...but her first grade teacher said the same thing! I listened this time, got 2 different medical opinions and agreed to try the medication. I still get a lot of crap from people who don't agree with the idea, but she's MY daughter and I know her best so go with your gut feeling on this one, don't pay attention to anyone else!
I don't have kids
I don't have kids, but my sister was diagnosed with ADHD when she was in 2nd grade. We had to keep switching her medication because she was having appetite, anxiety and energy issues. So we switched her to a medication called Ritalin and it seems to be working great right now. So it depends which medicine they're on. My sister is the youngest in her class so it would be hard for her in school no matter if she had ADHD or not. She only takes her medicine on school days which is good for her to do, this way she learns to control herself without the medication. So I think you could put him on medicine if you are comfortable with it. Just some advice: make sure he doesn't take it every single day because he will become dependent on it.
Bad bad bad! Taking that causes growth stunts and worse.
