how do you choose a middle name?

- do you choose one that sounds good, flows or compliments the first name?
- do you use middle names to honor people?
- is the middle name your second favorite name?


mine is my second favorite name. Example, if my top three girl names are Heidi, Monique & Keira I'd name a girl Heidi Monique.

1. I choose a middle name that flows well with the first name but that is also of a different theme for instance if i choose Lily ( a flower name) as 1st name,i will use a colour or Vintage name as middle name :

Lily Scarlett or Lily Isabelle

Same for boys if i use a modern name as 1st name,id use a traditional name as middle name

2.No,absolutely not,i want my child to have a different name,i do not want to think of someone else when i speak out my child's name..but i respect that tradition

3. Yes ,exactly,its my 2nd fave name which usually is among the top 5 in my baby list

For example i love ,Olivia, Claire,LilyViolet,

I will name my girl
Olivia Claire
OR i might as well nam her

Lily Olivia Claire

I choose names that flow well and I like. I don't use my second favourite names, because I would use those for my next child! I like to use family names, but sometimes they don't flow.

Phoebe Elizabeth / Phoebe Elizabeth Tara
Both of these flow well, and Elizabeth and Tara both honour people in my family.

Alyssa Kate / Alyssa Jade / Alyssa Catherine Jade
Jade is my sister's middle name, and Kate is my nickname (although my nickname is spelled Cate). Catherine is a variation of my name, but it flows well. pregnancy question and answersNewborn&Baby

Cordelia Faith
I love Cordelia! Faith is also really nice, but not a favourite of mine as a first name. It just flows well with Cordelia. Same with Anya Grace, Liliana Rose, Heidi Matilda, Jackson Cole, Lucas James, etc.

-I choose from important family and friends names.
-Can't start with the same letter or contain the same sound.
-Can't be overused like Rose, Lee, Hope, Joy, etc., etc.
-Has to just sound right.

I have Rylyn Amanda, Alecxander Nikolas, Cassidy Skyla and Kaia Jacklene :) All are family names besides Skyla was just gorgeous to me!

we wanted a name that flowed well and i wanted at least one name to be a family name....she ended up with 2 family names ....violet marin....beautiful and fits her perfectly

i would not just chose my second favorite name. i tend to like different names for first names than i do for middle names so i basically have two list and than combine them to find a name that is perfect

what my husband and I both did was we said if we ended up with a girl she would get my middle name as her middle name and if it was a boy he would get my husbands middle name as his middle name. We had the first names picked out already and they just seemed to fit right we ended up with Jayden Wade.
